Bluefield / Re: A Fateful Encounter

Now out in the open, heavy beats of wings could be heard as Dante tried to make his get away only to find that the woman had soared over him and landed in front of the man. She had her arms crossed over her chest and tapped the tip of a boot against the ground, unimpressed, "Tell me, is this your smooth way to say you can't afford it or that you're hiding something? Like why you're a wanted man in this province for example?" she chided,"Or perhaps you had no intention of keeping your promise?"

With a singular, swift movement, Lady Daybreaker unsheathed her sword once again in her right hand and pointed it at Dante, "How about a proposition. We can perform a dance you're more familiar with, Swordsman, and it's completely free out here and now. Certainly that will make things easier for you to keep your promise. After all, this Lady promises not to kiss and tell after all~"

Finally back out in the streets of Bluefield he placed his hands at his hips and shrugged at her first statement. "It has way of finding it's way back to me." Before too long he knew he wouldn't be able to pay for the promised establishment so he decided to call it a night. "You're right looks like it's so late everything but that crap hole is closed." Seeing as he had prevented her from seeing the poster he turned his back towards her and headed off into the night as his crimson coattails flowed in the breeze. He raised a single hand and flicked a wave over his shoulder. "Perhaps I'll see you around. I'll need to take a rain-check for our dancing date but I'll treat you next time." He said in his raspy voice as he walked faster and faster trying to put as much distance between himself and the Siren's lapdog.

"Sounds quite the life for an... 'Exterminator' of lengthy experience then." Daybreaker commented with a slight tilt of her her head to the side, now feeling just as wary as he was of her ambiguity from earlier. It was clear now that she was in the presence of a potentially dangerous man and she felt as though she couldn't let her guard down around him now; especially when the observant woman also took note of of the change in his demeanor as he continued to speak, going from calm and flirty to somewhat more alert and eager to leave. Since her helmet obscured her facial features, it was difficult to tell whether or not she did catch a glimpse of said wanted poster on the way out but even though she allowed for him to lead the way there was some resistance from her as they made their way. She did, however, toss a couple of gold coins towards the bar as payment for the unfinished wine.

"You've left your sword." she pointed out, "Somewhere more upscale huh? I hope you don't expect me to pay there too."

Watching the golden haired angel recoil intrigued Dante taking note of her reaction while he revealed minimal information about himself. "Oh that old thing? I've had it for as long as I can remember. Let's just say I'm in pest control and leave it at that. The bugs I deal with are oversized and noisy thus the sword's size." Having dodged the question the Devil Hunter was keen to reveal nothing about himself to this woman whom he was sure worked for the royal family. "The last thing I need is those parasites in Siren's Cenote learning of my existence, so let's play this one close to the vest."

When she raised part of her helm to reveal her lovely lips the hunter caught a glimpse of her dainty features specifically her golden lips; either she had access to some truly extravagant makeup or her lips were pillows of soft gold. Clearing his throat Dante finished his glass pouring out the rest of the bottle into his empty cup while keeping a close eye on his host. "She was looking at me like she knew me and she seems to be intent on learning more...she couldn't be...from the crown could she?" After scanning the bar the devil hunter's eyes shot open as at the far end of the bar was a wanted poster with his picture offering a five thousand gold reward; it was being offered by the ruling siren's for crimes against the royal family. The crimson coated man sprung into action in order to cover his tracks taking the Valkyrie's hand he pulled her towards the exit hoping she wouldn't glimpse the sight on way out. "A classy titled lady like yourself shouldn't be drinking here. Tell you what let's find an upscale joint to go dancing and I'll tell you everything you want."

"A humble swordsman of no title? How interesting, Dante." Daybreaker commented curiously with another glance towards his weapon before suddenly removing her hand from his shoulder at the realization, "My apologies, you just reminded me of someone I know."

Feeling a little awkward she continued talking as if it had never happened, "I would have thought otherwise for someone who carried a weapon of such fine craftsmanship. If I may-"

The armored maiden then got up and invited herself to pick up and inspect the long sword, though when she attempted to pick it up she had to shift her footing to a steadier stance and partly stretched her wings out for balance. A light grunt escaped her as she heaved the heavy blade onto the bar before leaning closer to it and ran her finger across the carved details, "This is certainly no ordinary sword, is it? Just what is it that you do for a living? If it's a rather interesting one I may be inclined to buy another bottle of wine~"

Which reminded her, Daybreaker made her way back to her seat to pour herself a glass and heard the knock upon her helmet. A soft chuckle reverberated from within, "Ah, no, neither will be necessary." she said shortly, despite having said it in a polite manner there was some defensiveness behind it too. The Valkerie did however, placed the tips of her fingers at the base of the visor and lifted it enough just to reveal an elegantly pointed, pale chin and plump, rose-gold lips. Then after tilting her head back slightly and with the rest of her face still concealed, she sipped half the contents of her glass before placing it back onto the table with a soft clink.

Character Biographies / Taimi, The Forest Keeper
« Last post by Taimi on December 28, 2018, 12:41:10 pm »
Name: Taimi

Nicknames/Alias: Little Tree or Sapling. Both are tied to her name, with the latter being what it actually means along with Young Tree.

Race: Dryad

Gender: Female

Age: She looks to be in her prime, however, being a forest spirit given form she doesn’t really age.

Height: 3’9” (~114 cm) at her withers and roughly 5’9” (~175 cm) if her upper body is counted in as well.

Appearance: Taimi is a strange beast. Dryads, being forest spirits at hearts, come in different incarnations and she is in the more noticeable group. She has the upper body of a female elvish creature but from the hips down she has the body of a Red Deer, making her something akin to a centaur. On a whole her body is elegant and graceful, not to mention built solid as an oak. Her upper half has light purple skin, fine grass green hair with flowers blooming from it, and warm orange eyes. Her lower body is a dark brown with white spots dotted around the flank.
In terms of clothing she doesn’t wear much. It mainly consists of a few vines growing up her arms and a pair of leaves to cover her upper body for modesty’s sake. Apart from that she remains naked.

Personality: Calm, caring and deadly. Those are the words that would best describe Taimi. She, like many other Dryads, is most often seen quietly wandering the eastern forests, quietly caring for the various flowers and trees. She is usually calm and caring when approached by strangers and willing to help them around or whatever else they need, provided they're respectful of the nature she so fiercely protects. If this isn't the case, she is anything but caring as she will violently lash out at the offenders, trying to either kill them by any means necessary and with fanatical dedication.

Residence: Amber Arklands, though she mainly wanders her homeland doing her duty.

Occupation: Forest tender and defender.

Skillset: At the very core of her being, Taimi is plant person. Her skill set mainly consists of caring for a wide variety of plants, knowing where they can be found and identifying them easily. Her knowledge also extends to knowing the effect of plants and she can whip some basic remedies together if need be.
Finally, should the need to defend the forest arise, she’ll make use of a spear to act as a cavalry soldier and fast moving skirmisher. Either that or she will lie in ambush… even if concealing herself is hard without a dense set of bushes given her unusual appearance.

Magic: Due to her tie to the forest, Taimi is able to call upon it and have it help in her hour of need, making her a very effective nature mage. Her magic is mainly used to heal dying or withered plants but can easily be applied to other living beings to heal wounds and other injuries. For a more combat oriented role, she can cause plants to grow out of control and fight on her behalf. This mainly consists of vines to constrict or snare her enemy or thorny vines that lashes out at the enemy like whips. In addition, she can fire bolts of nature energy at their enemy from a range.

Bio: Taimi doesn't remember how she came to be. Most dryads are born of the earth and forest and she assumes she was as well. This means that her only real answer is that she is a child of nature. But even then she could still lead you to the general area she recalls having been at from a very young age. Her childhood however, she remembers and very fondly at that. She lived without a real care in the world. She tended to plants along with her sisters and practiced her abilities for when she would need to be a defender of the forest herself. She quickly took to the role and did everything to excel at it, leading to her fighting with a fanatical dedication and without fear of death.
Now she dutifully patrols the wilds, keeping a sharp eye out for anything that might show signs of corruption or those who might want to do nature harm. The few times this has happened she has even managed to frighten some of her own sisters with her ferocity and brutality as she seems to delight in the cruel irony of killing defilers by letting nature having its own revenge, rather than acting on its behalf. That being said she doesn't mind doing that either.

Misc:
While the ride might be rough without a saddle, she has allowed others to ride on her back for convenience or in case of emergency. Although she isn't exactly prone to doing so if she doesn't trust the one asking.

Opening one eye Dante had to admit he was surprised he wasn't skewered through the center and pinned to the bar; when he was met with a pleasant reaction he breathed a sigh of relief finishing off his glass of wine before looking to the hand the woman before him had placed on his shoulder. "Now that I can deal with, thanks for the drink. Well it's nothing as fancy as yours but they call me Dante." When she left her hand on his shoulder longer than it took to give a comforting pat he raised an eyebrow. "Feeling a little touchy are we?" He used the back of his knuckle to lightly knock on her helm before addressing her again. "So you gunna take that off or you planning on drinking through a straw."

"Only the lucky ones." she replied to his first question, unphased by his glare, before pausing as Dante continued; admittingly a little stunned and caught off-guard by his reaction. A shrill laugh rattled from within the helmet, "By Odin's light you are a card!" she exclaimed before using both of her hands to liberate her sword from the bar and sheathed it in its rightful place on her back.

"Alright, I'll humor you one bottle of wine but not continuously all night." the Valkerie continued as she placed a gloved hand onto his shoulder and grasped firmly and nodded in appreciation towards to barkeep's slight bow, "And this 'blondie' has a name. You may address me as Lady Daybreaker. What of you, Swordsman? Your name?"

His eyes shot open when the sword was slammed into the bar before they fell into an annoyed glare. "Just once I'd like to meet a woman who doesn't want to shove sharp things in me." He thought to himself before he ran his gloved fingers up the side of the blade. "So you do this to all the guys you meet or just the ones you like?" He questioned before continuing on to address her own. "Well I know you enjoy the company of dashing gentlemen in red coats and are so taken aback by visage you'll be shouting me drinks all night." Dante knew this was a risky move but if he was going to have holes poked in him he was at least going to be drunk while it happened. "Hey, blondie over here said she'll be shouting me drinks all night so let's bust out the wine." He said with a cynical tone while the elven barmaid hurried over pouring two glasses of wine while wondering where this would go; she also got the glowing woman her mead while lowering her head out of respect.

The white haired man pushed the mead to one side and tapped the rim of the wine glass he pushed towards her. "Trust me unless you want to end up with your face in a chamber pot you'll drink the wine and avoid the mead. Besides you're paying for it...may as well at least have a glass." He told the Valkyrie before sipping the glass he ordered on her tab. Tasting the rich fermented fruits he set the glass down and awaited a reaction; he was ready be it flirty or wrathful.

Despite leaving his own sword behind the devil hunter would soon be met very closely with another as the winged maiden quickly unsheathed her own from her back and slammed the blade deep into the wooden bar's surface. The cold, flat-side of the weapon a hair's breadth away from one of Dante's arms on the bar, "Someone like me? You sound so sure of yourself." she cooed, a slight reverb echoed from beneath the helmet like a bell. Another tile of her helmet looked towards where his weapon lay, "Do continue Swordsman, regale on about how well you know so much about I."
