Bluefield / Re: A Fateful Encounter
« Last post by Dina Wildwind on March 01, 2019, 08:11:57 pm »
Dina peeks around the side of the boxes, seeing a red cloaked human man with a cross bow directly aimed at her face.

"Ohhhhhhh, you were talking to me!? HEllooo there!"

Dina holds her hands out and above her head and slowly steps out from the boxes. She shrinks her head down and bends her knees, attempting to look even smaller.

"Don't mind me just passing through!" she calls with the least amount of chill. "Just came here cause my bird flew away from me, not wanting any trouble! We'll be on our way!"

Said bird flitters to the cobblestone road in front of the armed individual. It shakes it's feathers into a puff before settling again, little brown eyes looking up at the stranger.

'Chirp chirp'

"Stubby...," Dina says slowly, hands quivering slightly,"please get away from the man who is willing to aim crossbow bolts willy nilly in any direction."

The bird continues to sit there. Dina looks up at the icy blue eyes of the man in front of her. She bites her lip, whimpering to herself. She chances a look at her quiver. With only two arrows to her name, she currently couldn't handle the danger in front of her, nor the danger she briefly overheard the party speaking of. Her main priority was the safety of herself and her Stubby. She looks back up, hoping he takes pity.

Dante gives pause at the mention of a dangerous foe whipping his head around as his icy blue eyes grow wide with excitement. "Just how dangerous we talking?" He asked his curiosity piqued. "With the way you fight, you'll definitely be in need of backup. Luckily for you I'm having a half off sale for all sell-sword services and if this big bad proves to be worth my time I may even do it for free. What do you say Daybreaker, Feeling dangerous?" The crimson coated man asked before he noticed a disturbance with the boxes in the alleyway. Narrowing his eyes he swiftly pulled a crossbow from his holster and aimed it in the direction the noise originated from. He gave a glare as his rough and raspy tone belted out. "Unless you like picking elven steel out of your asshole I'd suggest you show yourself." He said half expecting a royal informant to step out into the alley.

Meanwhile in another part of Bluefield:

"No, we're going to do this. Yes. No, we need to. I don't have enough arrows for this. No, don't look at me like that. We should go inside and ask around."

'chirp chirp'

"No butts about it Stubby."

A cloaked curly haired little halfling, carrying a bow and quiver nealry as tall as she is, covered in dirt and twigs, is a curious sight as she is currently arguing with the tiny sparrow perched on her finger. The quiver is empty and though she has been known to make arrows herself, she is aware that she needs professional help. With the Winter months coming in (aren't they always) and no guareentee she can pilfer or remake what she needs from adventurers who get mauled in the local forest, she understands she needs to actually talk to people...*gulp*

"Okay. We're going to be fine. It's fine. It's really fine. We'll just march in there, ask the barkeep what's happening in this town, then we'll make our way out. Agreed? Agreed...Let's go."

Placing the bird on her head, Dina makes her way into the bar, walking with a confidence she does not feel. She takes about 5 steps before she hears the clashing of metal and shouts from her left. Stumpy flies toward the noise, earning a "Hey!" as Dina chases her little companion down the darkened streets. The wind blows coldly as the clouds roll over the streets of Bluefield. Rats scurry and crows are cawing into the night.

Stubby lands on a pile of crates that reside within a small alcove, with a panting Dina finally catching up. Dina is about to scold the bird when she looks up. Two figures stand before her, a tall Valkerie and a Dwarf, who is still taller than her. The blonde haired woman stands there, her weapon resting at her side and her golden wings folded behind her. The black haired dwarf has his arms crossed in front of his muscled chest as he eyes the woman in front of him. They are talking to each other in the middle of the street where either could be seen. Whatever shouts and bursts of battle have long subsided.

Dina hides behind the crates, not willing to get involved, as she was currently only a bow and quiver to her name. She tries to carefully pick up Stumpy, but in doing so, scarps the boxes on the cobblestone. Before anyone can react, she goes back to hiding behind the boxes, hoping she wasn't seen.

Character Biographies / Dina Wildwind
« Last post by Dina Wildwind on February 08, 2019, 10:34:12 pm »
Name:   Dina Wildwind
Nicknames/Alias:   Didi
Race:   Halfling
Gender:   Female
Age:   22
Height:   4 ft, 120cm, hella short
Appearance:   An orange curly haired woman with a simple green cloak. Carries a bow and quiver about as big as she is and has a little Sparrow brown and white speckled companion named Stubby. She has a small pouch hidden which holds little trinkets, birdseed, some utensils and a small brass container specfically used for cooking.
Personality:   Nervous around people, distrustful of most others but deathly loyal if you happen to be her friend. Protective of Stumpy like she was paid for it. Loud to make up for her small stature. Get's distracted easily and doesn't throw a punch unless absolutely necessarily. Not a huge fan of the "high life."
Residence:   Nomadic, having spent a lot of time in the local woods. Hasn't really needed a place to stay with her cloak and her bird.
Occupation:   "What bills do I gotta pay?"
Skillset:   Fairly decent archer. Mainly used for hunting small animals, rabbits etc. Fairly good at using the ground for tracks and knows her way around a forest.
Bio:   Having grown up to a loving home of a single father, Dina has always been aware of her stature and her smaller frame being a target of others criticism. She used to shrug it off like it was no big deal, until her father got terribly ill and was forced to move into Dina's Uncle, Rodrick's house, until he got better. With her emotional support left to be ill, Dina did what she could to help the family. Roderick's eldest daughter Ameilia taught Dina how to use a bow to try and distract her from what her father was going through. With very little education under her belt, she would scavenge for berries, hunt and fish down wildlife and bring it home. Her father did recover, but was weakened as a result and he formerly sold the home Dina grew up in to permently reside at Rodrick's home. After an argument that stung too deeply, Dina fleed into the woods, having had enough of people treating her like a child. She found a little sparrow with a broken wing, barely out of the egg. She nursed the sparrow back to health, to which the sparrow remained and was named Stubby. It has been 3 years since she left home and she has gone on through her days with humming soft tunes and she found herself longing for companionship once more. Where will this take her?

Rules and Guidelines / Roleplaying Etequette guide
« Last post by Dante on February 08, 2019, 08:09:50 pm »
Spelling grammar & sentence structure
The first and most important rule of Roleplay is proper spelling and sentence structure. Please make sure your posts have mostly correct spelling & grammar using capital letters and full stops. Additional grammar skills are also welcomed but the basics are all that are needed to make sure the Role play flows and is understandable.

An example of a bad post is.
Tails runs in and punches the wall.

This is far too short and isn’t even a complete sentence. Posts like this are fine from time to time but try not to make every post you do like that. Also they are un-detailed we have no idea why Tails' is doing what he’s doing and he has ignored most of the other players. If you post like this a lot chances are you won’t get many responses.

An example of a good post is.
Sonic assumed he was just being friendly and leaned on his hand looking bored. "Yeah chocolate sounds fine. Just make sure it's not too rich yeah never been real big on sweets." Sonic's eyes followed Venus as she walked in he had a small smile. "This just got a whole lot more interesting."

Notice this is a complete sentence and is structured well. From this we know what Sonic is doing why he is doing it and we are also aware that Sonic is fully alerted to the environment around him. He is even noting characters in the background he is not directly interacting with because it lets other players know you are aware of them and will warrant people to interact with you more.

Fighting
When you engage with other member in combat it is very important to respect your opponent and their decisions. You CAN NOT land hits forcefully on a character or determine the damage done that is up to the other player.

Here is an example of how to rp fight.

Forte: With that he clasped hard to his black rings as more Fire appeared, as he hurled rings of fire at Sonic while trying to dash and barrel into him yet again.

Sonic: One for being quite the show off Sonic jumped through the rings of fire sent his way striking poses after dodging through the middle of each one like a trained seal. He was careful not to touch the sides as his skin was still scorched from the last attack and it hurt like hell. Sonic zipped past the dash attack and yawns fond sitting on a rock behind forte as an attempt to mock him.

Notice the dragon’s fire did not automatically hit Sonic. He posted shooting fire and Sonic reacted with an appropriate dodge because he decided the reaction to the attack and the level of damage done to his character.

Example of how not to RP fight with another member

Shadow sped towards Robotnik and shot at him using high powered rounds. The bullets entered the doctors head killing him instantly.

You see here shadow has both forcefully made his attack hit and decided the other players level of damage was death. You do not have control over if your attacks hit another character let alone the level of damage that is left to the  player of the character being attacked. Note villains are allowed to bend these rules a little for story purposes and because they are often the target of multiple foes. This is often because the villain in question is rped by an arc host trying to give you a story.

Basic Etiquette

If you join a thread and you don't understand just ask! But please don't assume people will post or cater to you.

Be patient with this being a forum the beauty is the rp is not going anywhere. Do not pester people for replies ask them politely. People have their own things to do away from the site.

Respect other people's decisions do not badmouth another person out of character.

Rules and Guidelines / Rules
« Last post by Dante on February 08, 2019, 08:08:32 pm »
Please follow the rules below so that everyone can have a pleasant and fun RolePlay experience.

1. Be respectful of other members. Out of character insults, swearing, 'Trolling' or any unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and may possibly result in a ban. (Roleplaying etiquette is greatly appreciated)

2.
Your account name must be the name of the character you are RPing as. This makes RP a lot easier whenever a person decides to join.

3. No god-modding, Metagaming or forcefully killing off another character without permission. Also try to avoid your character having knowledge of events they were not present for. Few exceptions include the most common one being the 'Arc Host'. RPers take turns in being an Arc Host to lead a story for most of the forum to participate in. Few situations are where Arc Hosts may do minor puppeting/god-modding towards other characters for story purposes only.

4. OCs are very welcome and encouraged! Please make sure to create a character biography in the "Character Biographies" section. You can choose to make it as long or as short of a description as you like. You are welcome to rp your character however you like. But expect others to do the same. Do not hassle others because their characters do not meet your style or expectations. Spotlight is all about creativity so get crazy.

5. One account per character please. If you RP as second character, create a second account. NPCs do not need one but frequently used characters do. No exceptions.

6. Shipping with characters is permitted, parties involved must be mutually okay with this.

7. You are allowed to be in multiple threads at once, just be mindful of when they take place compared to other threads you're active in. While it is highly encouraged you finish a thread it is not required. If you are in a situation that you do not find fun and can't even make an exit post simply type (ABANDONED) in bold font to show you are not pleased with the situation you've been backed into.

Bluefield / Re: A Fateful Encounter
« Last post by Eurig on January 21, 2019, 03:21:44 pm »
Eurig looked towards Dante as he left, but made no attempt to stop him. It was none of his business... some might say that also went for the fight but it was causing a disturbance so he saw it as justified.
"Thank you, at least the whole thing was settled before the authorities got involved," he nodded before listening to the lady's request and reasoning. He did indeed pick up on the somber tone and took a moment to think about it after she was done talking before answering her, "I see. Well, i mainly deal with common things, however, weapons and armor are well within my scope. Tell me, what do you need? I might not be able to start now, but i will take it and see if i can't give it a go. I can hardly pass it up, i am not that heartless. I will do what i can to help you save your family."

Her second comment, where she pretty much confessed to starting it all left him a bit indifferent. It made sense to him in some way, but he still didn't approve of it fully. He'd also have to disappoint her, "well, you'd think so, wouldn't you? But nope, they'd go for the more known ones or the royal smith. I deal with the locals, but don't let that discourages you. It's more of a reputation thing... and the locals seem to like my craftsmanship regardless."

“Ah but of course I – we were willing, there is a time and place for everything after all.” the winged woman cooed as her head titled slightly towards Dante’s direction, this time not trying to stop him to leave. A soft click of satisfaction rattled within her helmet when she found out that she too managed to get underneath the swordsman’s skin before she continued the conversation with the dwarf, “My apologies for inquiring at such an odd hour – and of course I am willing to return at a better time – but just in case it isn’t possible, I wanted to know if you took commission work? I am in need of a particular weapon to face a very…”

A pause.

Dangerous foe. I fear that what I currently wield wouldn’t be enough… to save my dear family.” she finally said, her voice dropping from the regal tone she maintained to one more sombre, perhaps even a hint of desperation in her voice. Perhaps others could overhear, perhaps not, either way the Valkerie didn’t seem to try to keep it hush-hush either.
“Again, I apologise for disrupting the peace earlier, I needed to see if there are worthy enough warriors in the area too. I provoked him, deliberately, to see for myself given the interesting sword he carries.” she added to Eurig before shrugging as he continued to walk away, “I suppose there will be others. I’d imagine in your practice you would know of powerful warriors, yes?”

When her fist impacted with his cheek it seems the hunter was unphased using his hand to push her fist downwards when their conflict came to a stand-still. Dante went to retrieve his blade while shaking out his fingers due to the cold lingering the tips. When he placed his hand upon the hilt he grit his teeth and let out an annoyed groan in response to the floating woman's haughty laughter; with the ice dissipated he lifted his sword slinging it over his shoulder. "Aren't we full of ourself?" He let loose in an aggravated tone while a frown crawled over his face. It seems Dante had a rather strong dislike for the high and mighty type, a trait he wore openly on his sleeve. Seeing the dwarf talk about his skills after Daybreaker inquired he assumed she was in the market for a new weapon and would leave her to it. Starting to walk off without another word to either of them he was headed towards the city gates, presumably to return to the wilds for his next hunt.

Dante did manage a satisfied smirk however noticing the pain he caused Daybreaker as she pulled the bolts from her winged appendages. His red coattails blew in the gentle breeze behind him adding a majestic quality to his mysterious exit while his black boots stomped against the cobble stone and paved walkways of Bluehaven.
