“Ah but of course I – we were willing, there is a time and place for everything after all.” the winged woman cooed as her head titled slightly towards Dante’s direction, this time not trying to stop him to leave. A soft click of satisfaction rattled within her helmet when she found out that she too managed to get underneath the swordsman’s skin before she continued the conversation with the dwarf, “My apologies for inquiring at such an odd hour – and of course I am willing to return at a better time – but just in case it isn’t possible, I wanted to know if you took commission work? I am in need of a particular weapon to face a very…”

A pause.

Dangerous foe. I fear that what I currently wield wouldn’t be enough… to save my dear family.” she finally said, her voice dropping from the regal tone she maintained to one more sombre, perhaps even a hint of desperation in her voice. Perhaps others could overhear, perhaps not, either way the Valkerie didn’t seem to try to keep it hush-hush either.
“Again, I apologise for disrupting the peace earlier, I needed to see if there are worthy enough warriors in the area too. I provoked him, deliberately, to see for myself given the interesting sword he carries.” she added to Eurig before shrugging as he continued to walk away, “I suppose there will be others. I’d imagine in your practice you would know of powerful warriors, yes?”

The man’s skills in combat were certainly dualy noted by the intrigued Valkerie, whom seemed to show a fair bit of flair for being able to keep up the dance with the demon hunter thus far. That is until their swords were bound and he had swung his frozen arms over her helmet. He would find, however, that if he wanted to do some real damage to her helmet he would have to try a lot harder than that. Even if the ice had shattered over the Valkerie.

A grunt of displeasure growled as her head rang with the clangs and as a reflex, sent a fist flying to punch Dante on the throat for that cheek, “You will do well to mind your manners Swordsman!” she hissed with a much less friendly tone as compared to before. After kicking her metal boots into her frozen weapon until it was free from the other and the ice she held her sword Storm-Caller at the ready; just before they were interrupted by a local.

It seemed that the winged maiden was in agreement when the dwarf’s grievance was made known and thus sheathed her weapon in compliance. When she heard the demon hunter’s response Lady Daybreaker couldn’t help but burst out laughing and such laughter echoed slightly within the helmet too and raised a dainty hand to where her mouth supposed was, “A lover’s quarrel you say? My goodness you have had a bit too much drink you can handle haven’t you? Nonetheless I cannot say it is good to have… goals in life. Have something to strive for I suppose is a worthy ambition to have, if nothing else for a particularly interesting ‘human’.”

Daybreaker then  turned to face the dwarf again and gave a formal bow of apology for the ruckus she had initiated within the peaceful city. She did wince however, now just being reminded that there was in face a couple of arrows lodged into her wing from earlier. As she proceeded to snap and remove the bolts with a grimace she then had a better look at the newcomer. From the looks of it he was a smith of somekind – and potentially might have just come out of his workshop given his uniform, “Pardon me, you wouldn’t happen to be a blacksmith or someone with knowledge of forging metals, would you?”

A curious purr rolled within the helmet upon seeing the wound heal rapidly, “My, aren’t you a man of many secrets. Consider my curiosity piqued, Dante.” she cooed as the valkerie leapt backwards to ready herself against his next attack. The winged woman wasn’t sure what to expect from her foe and his challenging tone caused for her to keep her sword raised high to guard her face.

Fortunately so too, for when the demon hunter tapped her shoulder, he was gone by the time she turned to look, providing him an opportunity to strike. The clash of metal against metal boomed like metallic thunder as the two swords sang their lightning songs of strife. She could feel the power behind his attack for her body quivered with gradually failing strength of her own under his weight, but she was not about to give up yet!

A smile curled at her lips before she shouted, “HRIðAR!” The blistering sparks of lighting from the clash soon faded as the runes turned an icey-blue and a blistering cold erupted from her weapon. Ravenous swirls of freezing wind roared from her sword and thick slabs of ice began to crawl over Dante’s sword and hands; if he did not act quickly it could soon consume much more of him…

The winged maiden wasn’t phased by his glare, if anything there might have been a glint of intrigue and a slight smile when she found her suspicions were correct. As a thanks to his comment, she nodded once and then followed through with a bow of her own, wings extended at either side with poise and sword diagonally across her chest for the duration of the bow.

A soft chuckle echoed from beneath her helmet as she accepted the short invitation with her free hand but still kept a firm grasp of her sword with the other, “Beautiful? Even though you haven’t seen what I look like? I’m sure you say that to all the Valkeries.” Daybreaker proclaimed as she glided around but she was ready as ever when things started to get interesting.

Perhaps there was a grimace from the maiden at the sight of the crossbows, the first few projectiles zoomed a little too close for comfort past her wings and there after she had decided to press her wings against her body and charged towards Dante by foot. Some arrows clanged against her armour and bounced off, others missed, a handful was sliced in half by the blade she carried but two arrows did manage to wedge into her left wing despite her efforts.

An inhumane hiss of pain reverberated from her helmet and when Rebellion was brought onto the battlefield Daybreaker was ready. She leapt to the side to dodge that devastating blow – ‘That was no non-lethal blow… alright if that is how he wants to play then…’ – but mid-air she followed through by swinging her sword towards the back of his neck. Magical aura crackled along her sword as the runes lit up and left a short trail of light as it sliced through the air, “LEIPTR!” she bellowed and flashes of lightning had been called forth from her sword half way through the attack.

Now out in the open, heavy beats of wings could be heard as Dante tried to make his get away only to find that the woman had soared over him and landed in front of the man. She had her arms crossed over her chest and tapped the tip of a boot against the ground, unimpressed, "Tell me, is this your smooth way to say you can't afford it or that you're hiding something? Like why you're a wanted man in this province for example?" she chided,"Or perhaps you had no intention of keeping your promise?"

With a singular, swift movement, Lady Daybreaker unsheathed her sword once again in her right hand and pointed it at Dante, "How about a proposition. We can perform a dance you're more familiar with, Swordsman, and it's completely free out here and now. Certainly that will make things easier for you to keep your promise. After all, this Lady promises not to kiss and tell after all~"

"Sounds quite the life for an... 'Exterminator' of lengthy experience then." Daybreaker commented with a slight tilt of her her head to the side, now feeling just as wary as he was of her ambiguity from earlier. It was clear now that she was in the presence of a potentially dangerous man and she felt as though she couldn't let her guard down around him now; especially when the observant woman also took note of of the change in his demeanor as he continued to speak, going from calm and flirty to somewhat more alert and eager to leave. Since her helmet obscured her facial features, it was difficult to tell whether or not she did catch a glimpse of said wanted poster on the way out but even though she allowed for him to lead the way there was some resistance from her as they made their way. She did, however, toss a couple of gold coins towards the bar as payment for the unfinished wine.

"You've left your sword." she pointed out, "Somewhere more upscale huh? I hope you don't expect me to pay there too."

"A humble swordsman of no title? How interesting, Dante." Daybreaker commented curiously with another glance towards his weapon before suddenly removing her hand from his shoulder at the realization, "My apologies, you just reminded me of someone I know."

Feeling a little awkward she continued talking as if it had never happened, "I would have thought otherwise for someone who carried a weapon of such fine craftsmanship. If I may-"

The armored maiden then got up and invited herself to pick up and inspect the long sword, though when she attempted to pick it up she had to shift her footing to a steadier stance and partly stretched her wings out for balance. A light grunt escaped her as she heaved the heavy blade onto the bar before leaning closer to it and ran her finger across the carved details, "This is certainly no ordinary sword, is it? Just what is it that you do for a living? If it's a rather interesting one I may be inclined to buy another bottle of wine~"

Which reminded her, Daybreaker made her way back to her seat to pour herself a glass and heard the knock upon her helmet. A soft chuckle reverberated from within, "Ah, no, neither will be necessary." she said shortly, despite having said it in a polite manner there was some defensiveness behind it too. The Valkerie did however, placed the tips of her fingers at the base of the visor and lifted it enough just to reveal an elegantly pointed, pale chin and plump, rose-gold lips. Then after tilting her head back slightly and with the rest of her face still concealed, she sipped half the contents of her glass before placing it back onto the table with a soft clink.

"Only the lucky ones." she replied to his first question, unphased by his glare, before pausing as Dante continued; admittingly a little stunned and caught off-guard by his reaction. A shrill laugh rattled from within the helmet, "By Odin's light you are a card!" she exclaimed before using both of her hands to liberate her sword from the bar and sheathed it in its rightful place on her back.

"Alright, I'll humor you one bottle of wine but not continuously all night." the Valkerie continued as she placed a gloved hand onto his shoulder and grasped firmly and nodded in appreciation towards to barkeep's slight bow, "And this 'blondie' has a name. You may address me as Lady Daybreaker. What of you, Swordsman? Your name?"

Despite leaving his own sword behind the devil hunter would soon be met very closely with another as the winged maiden quickly unsheathed her own from her back and slammed the blade deep into the wooden bar's surface. The cold, flat-side of the weapon a hair's breadth away from one of Dante's arms on the bar, "Someone like me? You sound so sure of yourself." she cooed, a slight reverb echoed from beneath the helmet like a bell. Another tile of her helmet looked towards where his weapon lay, "Do continue Swordsman, regale on about how well you know so much about I."

Soon enough the heavy, front doors were kicked open as a winged woman with a tall and svelte frame almost glided her way into the bar. Her light armour and hint of chain mail clinked quietly every once in a while and her long blonde hair flowed behind her in semi-defiance of the gravity's demands. Her helmet had no gaps, slits or indentations of any kind, being smoothed over and solid-looking, to others it completely obstructed her face but she was able to see those around her.

With another light flicker of her wings, the Valkerie smoothly seated herself at the bar-table, a few seats away from Dante's left. A sword with scriptures of a foreign language carved down its blade remained on her back as she used her right hand to knock on the bench to catch the barkeep's attention, "A bottle of mead, if you will." she requested before pausing and slowly exhaled. A moment or so the ever slight tilt of her helmet to the side signified that she had cast a look towards Dante's direction before finally turning to look in front of her again.

Character Biographies / Lady Daybreaker, the Lost Knight Sourcerer
« on: December 28, 2018, 06:13:26 am »
Name:Aurora Freya Bergström
Nicknames/Alias:Lady Daybreaker
Race:Valkerie
Gender:Female
Age:Appearance of a winged woman in her late twenties, however her true age is said to be in the hundreds.
Speech:NavajoWhite for speech
Cornsilk for thoughts
Height:5'9"
Appearance:Lady Daybreaker is rarely seen without her light-weight, white armor with edges lined with silver, long silver cape and Storm-Caller. Her helmet has no slits, gaps or indentations at all, which many may wonder how she could possibly see or breathe out of it at all when worn; however this somehow does not hinder her performance. She has a pair of large, golden feathered wings at her hips and the gap in the armor to fit her wings offers a glimpse of her pale complexion. Lady Daybreaker also has long, flowing blonde hair that floats in the air as if she was underwater, no matter where she is.
Primary Weapon: Storm-CallerStorm-Caller is a one-handed, basket-hildted sword with ancient runes engraved along the length of its blade. It serves a dual-purpose, one for physical combat like any other sword and also the source of casting short-ranged magic. Such magic requires direct contact with the target or the wielder is able to 'write' archaic runes in the air to activate spells of a stormy nature. Such spells often take form of lightning, clouds, wind or rain - all of which originates from the runes, not the environment around them and requires the target to be in immediate proximity to activate effectively.
Personality:Despite hailing from Red Haven, Lady Daybreaker is one of a valiant, intelligent, curious and fun-loving mind. When on a mission she often takes the no-nonsense and direct approach but when off-duty she loosens up enough to enjoy the little things in life.
Residence:Red Haven
Occupation:Knight Sourcerer
Skillset:Swordsman and Alchemy
Magic:'Storm Magic' cast from Storm-Caller.
Bio:Once swearing her life for a monarchy within Red Haven which had fallen and the royal lineage died out so very long ago, Lady Daybreaker now wanders the lands in search for a new purpose for her life and sword. Even though the Diagrae Monarchy no longer reigns any part of the world, Lady Daybreaker still visits and loyally ensures that the entry to their tomb deep in the pits of Red Haven stays safe-guarded and sealed shut.

Over the years Lady Daybreaker has made a name for herself for rescuing or helping out civilians with silver or white hair - especially children - simply because they remind her of the members of the royal Diagrae family she once served. Anyone who happens to have one of two hair colours, as well as green or red eyes, strike a particularly sensitive chord for her.

Rules and Guidelines / How To Use The Dungeon Master Account
« on: December 28, 2018, 04:17:54 am »
What Is The Dungeon Master And How Are They Used?
Here at Siren Sphere, we tell legends of our characters in this fantasy setting, which is why we have a Dungeon Master (also known as 'The Storyteller' or 'Arc Host') in every major thread on the forum to tell these tales. The Dungeon Master doesn't dictate how other characters react or how other people write their characters by a long shot, but is rather like an Arc Host who offers direction for characters. This can be in casual RP threads or in more major ones like Arcs.
e.g. One evening an unlikely rag-tag group of civilians gathered within a busy and lively tavern... then suddenly goblins attack!

Note: Minor threads do not require a Dungeon Master.

There is a Dungeon Master Account?
There is a shared Dungeon Master account anyone can use on the forum, just ask an Admin for the username and password.

Using The Dungeon Master Account:
We all love to write and it's really important to give credit where it's due; so at the end of each post just sign off with your first name or internet alias.

How Many Dungeon Masters Can There Be In One Thread?
There can be as many as it's needed in a thread, however try to keep it to one per thread as much as possible.
